Brain Cooling Helm

London - brain swelling caused by injury to the head can be fatal. So that should be done cooling compress at the head of accident victims.

Well, ThermaHelm try to provide solutions. This helmet can cool the head and brain, which could minimize brain injury during the accident.

As reported by Topspeed.com, Tuesday (1/12/2009), ThermaHelm works by storing a liquid gel or water and ammonium nitrate in a plastic package of thin layer positioned on the helmet.

When an accident occurs, a small nail is penetrated between the layers through a separate compartment, causing ammonium nitrate together with gel or water, endothermic reaction which cools the brain.

LED indicators located on the helmet, warned the activation operation of the cooling fluid, whereas the small camera able to record it 60 seconds before the accident occurred.

Not to mention the features such as integrated Bluetooth headphones and fog-free glass and sunlight, so in other words, this is the helmet of the 21st century.

Unfortunately, until now ThermaHelm still in prototype stage, but has encouraged significant interest from a motorcycle helmet manufacturer in the world.

"This is a very interesting innovation that has the potential to save thousands of lives worldwide each year," says Julian Preston-Powers, from ThermaHelm.

This technology will increase the price of a helmet. But it is not adding more than 150 pounds. ThermaHelm brand helmet is one also will be made from carbon fibers, which became the standard in F1 in 2009.
